Portraits of Soul

I’ve always been moved by people who dare to stand in the light -who step onto a stage and express what most of us keep hidden.
Being a shy person myself, I see performers as extraordinary: they use only their bodies, their voices, and their presence to transform personal pain into something universal. Their courage lets us forget, for a moment, the weight of our own lives.

For this series I experimented with a modern fresco crackle technique.
The large, fractured surfaces echo the emotional fractures within these artists 

-the tension, the vulnerability, the power.
They are portraits of strength, presence, and the art of turning life into expression.
