Janis
Janis Joplin’s voice was all heart -raw, cracked open,
and impossible to ignore.
What moves me most about her is that nothing about her singing
felt held back; she poured everything she had into every note,
as if the music was the only place big enough to contain her emotions.
In this portrait I wanted to hold onto that fierce honesty,
that sense of someone burning brightly while trying to
find her own peace.
