Fresco surface, mixed media and oil paint on canvas

This portrait was inspired by the strength and quiet pride of the Amazigh women of North Africa -often called the “free people.”
They carry a sense of heritage and identity that endures through time; a beauty not shaped by adornment,
but by belonging.
Their fine facial tattoos echo ancient symbols of protection and ancestry, connecting them to generations before.
I wanted the unpolished fresco surface to hold that same feeling; a desert patina recalling sun, dust, and resilience.
To me, Spirits of the Amazigh is about dignity that doesn’t ask to be seen -it simply is.
A strength born from the earth itself, carried quietly, unbroken.
