Intimacy is one of those words we use casually but rarely examine. We tend to reduce it to its physical dimension -but real intimacy is something much rarer and more profound.
At its core, it's about being truly seen. Not the version of ourselves we present to the world, but the unedited, unguarded version -with all its contradictions, fears and imperfections. And having that version met not with judgment, but with recognition. I see you. All of you. And I'm still here.
That requires complete vulnerability. We can only be truly seen if we allow ourselves to be truly looked at. And that means accepting the risk of being found wanting. Which is why so many of us long for intimacy -and keep it at arm's length at the same time.
