A storm moves across an ancient landscape -heavy clouds,

a volcanic silhouette, the earth holding its breath.

When I painted this, I kept thinking about how light sometimes seems to force its way through a breaking sky. Not gently.

Like something that has been waiting.
The crackled surface carries the memory of this moment -as if the painting itself has weathered the same storms, and survived them. What remains is that light.
